U.S. Intellectual History Blog

Please Welcome Andrew Seal!

It is my great pleasure to announce that Andrew Seal will be joining us today as our newest regular blogger. Along with Ray Haberski, Andrew will be blogging on Fridays.  Readers of this blog will already be acquainted with Andrew, who recently completed an excellent extended guest blogging gig with us. Andrew is a PhD candidate in American Studies at Yale University and is currently working on a dissertation tentatively titled “Exporting the Common Man: Midwestern Intellectuals and Global Power, 1910-1960.” (You can find out more about him and his project at the Meet the Bloggers link on the right.)

Andrew tells us that he’s “especially interested in blogging on both current trends and forgotten legacies in US intellectual history, toggling between recovery projects and analyses of recently published scholarship and criticism.”

Please join me in welcoming him to the blog!

S-USIH Comment Policy

We ask that those who participate in the discussions generated in the Comments section do so with the same decorum as they would in any other academic setting or context. Since the USIH bloggers write under our real names, we would prefer that our commenters also identify themselves by their real name. As our primary goal is to stimulate and engage in fruitful and productive discussion, ad hominem attacks (personal or professional), unnecessary insults, and/or mean-spiritedness have no place in the USIH Blog’s Comments section. Therefore, we reserve the right to remove any comments that contain any of the above and/or are not intended to further the discussion of the topic of the post. We welcome suggestions for corrections to any of our posts. As the official blog of the Society of US Intellectual History, we hope to foster a diverse community of scholars and readers who engage with one another in discussions of US intellectual history, broadly understood.

  1. Outstanding! Yet another great, new voice to the blog. I am very happy to be one part of the Friday duo.

  2. Have found much to think about in your guest posts, and am now looking forward to your “regular” posts!
