Blog Editor Positions Open!

The Society of U.S. Intellectual Historians cordially invites anyone interested to apply for the following positions. Their terms will begin in October 2021.

Blog Editor—the blog editor will maintain daily operations of the blog, including but not limited to correspondence with bloggers for S-USIH, making sure community standards at the blog are upheld, and coordinating with the Ex-Com team to ensure continued stability for the blog. The blog editor will also work closely with the Publications Chair on recruiting additional assistant editors for the blog as well.

Book Reviews Editor—Book reviews editor is expected to solicit and edit book reviews for the Society of U.S. Intellectual Historians. In addition to these primary duties, the book reviews editor will also work with an assistant editor to maintain a healthy rate of publishing reviews at the blog, between 2 to 4 reviews per month. Book reviews editor will work with the blog editor on the scheduling of new reviews and other materials. Also, book roundtables will fall under the purview of the book reviews editor; all roundtables will be cleared with the book reviews editor before they are formally planned and executed.

Both editors will report directly to the Publications Committee chair, but all will work together as a team to publish work for the Society of U.S. Intellectual Historians’ blog.

Application information includes a CV and a statement of purpose for the position. For the statement of purpose, include items such as goals for the position, previous experience with writing and editing, and other thoughts about intellectual history and digital publishing. The deadline for turning in applications is October 7, and start date in the new positions will be October 21. All applications must be emailed to [email protected].
