grad student conference

If any readers of the our blog are graduate students, allow me to recommend the graduate student conference put on by the American Studies Department at the University of Texas. The idea behind this conference is to provide a low-stakes environment for graduate students to present their work. Single papers, as well as panels, are perfectly acceptible for submission, moderators are encouraged to find links between papers rather than criticize them and Austin is a pretty fun town. I was once a grad student in this department, and even ran the conference one year. It’s pretty fun.

This year’s conference will be on Friday, September 29, and the theme is “The Idea of America: Dreams, Desires and Disasters.” The due date, however, is coming up fast: June 20. More information about the conference is available here.
