I just read that Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. died on Wednesday, February 28. He was 89 years old. The New York Times obituary is here.

I am thinking of posting a long reflection on him over at H&E. Schlesinger, Sr., thought of himself loosely as an intellectual historian, having studied under James Harvey Robinson at Columbia. I’m still evaluating, however, what I think of the intellectual history aspects of Schlesinger, Jr.’s work. -TL
